Typical types of non profit services are advocacy, arts, civic, cultural, education, health and human services. They range from extremely small (eg no full time personnel using only volunteer labour) to extremely large. (e.g. hospitals, international charities).
Traditional small non profit organisation have small staff numbers and small budgets. Those new to the non profits may think that because NPO’s may be small that the issues they face should be simple. This is not the case and the vast majority of organisations (regardless of size) face similar problems.
Silks has a long association with providing and assisting non profit organisations, their Governance Boards and executives achieve their goals efficiently and painlessly.
Our role as auditors to some of the larger non profit organisations within the community means that we have a first rate understanding of the various reporting requirements and financial disclosures required by such diverse standards as:
- Charities Commission
- Incorporated Societies
- Charitable Trusts
- Requirements for Private Training Establishments (PTE)
Being reliant on volunteers means that non profits are even more vulnerable to the risks of staff turnover. We can assist in establishing robust, low cost, systems which are less prone to error as well as management reporting to the board which conforms with best practice and which can satisfy funders.
