It can be difficult to know what is right for your business. So how do you make that all important decision?
Start by, planning what your business really needs from the software. What reports or information do you want to obtain.
Is the software for internal use only or do you need to supply the information to other entities. Does your software have to be compatible with another system?
Do you have staff who can manage the IT problems? What support is available for any hardware & software problems you may encounter.
Backup systems and upgrading of software
Who does this, how often, what is the cost and how easy are the systems to maintain?
Cost
What is the cost to purchase the software and ongoing costs of licences and support?
Compare this to the "in the cloud" platforms which are becoming very popular. For a moderate monthly charge your business can use the software and don’t have to worry about upgrades and backups of the system. This is handled for you by the supplier.
Before making a decision on any software purchases talk to other uses of the product, get advice from your accountant and other appropriate people.
